solo

Butterfly Harvest

This second solo work first premiered at Vangeline Theatre’s Queer Butoh Festival June 25 and 26, 2026 at the Brick (NYC), then performed again at Borderlight Theatre Festival July 8-11, 2026 (Cleveland, OH).

The seed for the work was created in October 2025 for a photoshoot between with acclaimed photographer Ava Pellor.

Butterfly Harvest follows the story of a “campesino” as he dreams of living amongst butterflies. He then awakes only to rediscover that, despite his love for the fragile creatures, he one who must reap and harvest them. As a “lowborn” human, he laments his position in the world as a destroyer of beauty.

This solo work calls upon the shapes of nature—plant, insect, and animal—to awaken a magical anatomy within the body, revealing a newer, cleaner human.

The work was premiered in November 2025 at Chez Bushwick’s RECESS as part of Scoop Slone’s EXCAVATE Butoh Works-in-Progress series and later performed at Rhizome DC.

a breeze may take me

This long-distance collaboration between myself and DC-based drummer/composer Keith Butler Jr. culminated in a performance at Rhizome DC in November 2024. This long-distance collaboration demanded new creative tools to ensure both artists could create separately but within the same dream. The process began with a title, followed by the creation of a shared aesthetic manifesto to serve as a guide. Guitarist Nelson Dougherty joined us as our third member to breathe harmony into our final work.
