Oscar Suh-Rodriguez (OSUKASU) is an NYC-based Butoh dancer, choreographer, and sound artist. His work seeks to cradle everyday dissonances and record the diaphanous landscapes that tower over the mundane. Utilizing a dissociated state of release, he allows his body to serve as a conduit for the disembodied voices of the unconscious.

As both dancer and composer, Oscar thrives in the auteur role, bouncing between the composition of choreography and music/sound to illuminate a complete cohesive vision. While influences like Étienne Decroux, Kazuo Ohno, Alejandro Jodorowsky, and the butoh community have greatly informed his movement, his background as a jazz musician has deeply informed his devotion to crafting an organic, impulse-based style.

Oscar has presented original works as part of Scoop Slone’s EXCAVATE: Butoh Dance Works in Progress, Chez Bushwick’s RECESS, and Greenlung Studio’s 4:15 series. He also performed alongside Vangeline Theatre’s presentation of “Freedom’s Descent,” as part of NYC Dancefest 2025’s Center Stage.

On April 2 and 3 2026, his duo CHIMAERA with dancer Eilish Henderson will premiere its eponymous debut at Greenlung Studio (Brooklyn). Then in June 2026, he will premiere his solo piece “Butterfly Harvest” as part of Vangeline Theatre’s Queer Butoh Festival 2026 (NYC).
