Borderlight Festival (OH)- Butterfly Harvest

“Butterfly Harvest” is a solo Butoh piece, choreographed and performed Oscar Suh-Rodriguez (OSUKASU). It conveys the story of a butterfly farmer waking to gather himself before the blue hour of dawn—just before the sounds of nature shift from toads to birds. Net in hand, he departs for the fields where he admires the little white butterflies that flutter here and there. His eyes glow with love as he watches these tiny creatures with admiration until he begins his harvest. Once exhausted by his work, he recognizes in himself an ability to capture and destroy beauty but a painful failure to create it.

Oscar Suh-Rodriguez, stage name OSUKASU is a Chilean-American Butoh dancer based in NYC. As both dancer and musician, Oscar thrives in the auteur role, bouncing between the composition of choreography and sound to develop his cohesive and often modular works. "Butterfly Harvest" was first premiered at NYC's 2026 Queer Butoh Festival at The Brick.
